Tangle Hell Horror Story
The following story was written by Sabra Sinclair, one of the beautiful ladies who modeled the ladies' tees on this website. Her story is a must-read for some comic relief. It will sound strikingly similar to many of ours...Thanks for sharing, Sabra!

When I was about nine I had long, always messy, chlorine bleached, kinky curls. Neither of my straight haired parents had any idea how to deal with me and lovingly supplied me with a victorian style soft, dense, horse hair brush that turned my hair into Don King frizz, and a bottle of Pert (no conditioner). Daily were the fights to make me brush my hair. I once had to sit in the car while my family had lunch because I refused to brush before going in the restaurant. A kind lady in the parking lot gave me a banana. Anyway, One time my Mom left town and after about 3 days, my well intending dad had had enough of my tangles and refusals. He sat me down on the bathroom counter and attempted to COMB (Not with a pick, a FINE comb like the old man barber shop tool) my tangles, starting at the TOP of my head! Big Mistake. By the time he got to my ears I had one giant, around the head, horizontal dreadlock! Poor Dad. He tried everything including squeezing an entire tube of VO5 oil onto my dry hair. But alas, my tears and tangles got the better of him and he gave up with a new perspective on the "brush your hair" argument. I went around the world for a day or two with a greasy, low, under the dreadlock, ponytail until Mom took me to a 'salon' (supercuts?) and asked the 'stylist' (chinese guy who specialized in elementary school boys hair) to give me a "swim cut". I left the salon with two inches of hair that attempted to curl but was just too depressed. They never hasseled me about my hair again.

new site is live!
It's been so fun illustrating, designing, animating and working with Amy on this project! I myself sit on the other side of the fence, as my hair is straight as it comes. I'm always wishing my hair could hold any kind of curl. Even just a slight wave would do! :p So as much as I might not be able to shout out the saying "to hell with straight hair", I can most certainly relate to the mission behind this project, which is also the name of Amy's company, and that's: JUST BE YOU. Love yourself and be proud of who you are and the beautiful unique traits that make you *you*.

Amy Broline's a woman with a mission & I support her on that path. She's empowering women to fully celebrate and revel in who they are, and she's gone so far as to create a (curl) revolution around it. Awesome!

Since we started on this project she's already added three new women's summer color combos and now a super adorable kids line, too! I look forward to seeing what's next. Keep up the great work, Amy. You're inspiring!

~ Willo

p.s. Special thanks to my beautiful curly haired girlfriends, Misty, Nicki, Leslie, Sabra, E.K. and little Andrea, for modeling for us!
